TV and Burgers

I’d like to start this out by apologizing to you, my loyal readers. Sir Griffin has been ill and thus has been in no mood to write his annual Oscar review. Despite my illness I did manage to watch all of the red carpet arrivals and the entire show from beginning to end. I do this not only for myself, but for all of you as well and I do hope you appreciate and enjoy it. First I want to tell you that I watched the Red Carpet arrivals on TV Guide Network. It took me about 10-15 minutes to find that channel, but I found it just before they came on the air. I cannot and will not watch the coverage on E! as long as they continue to put that sorry sack of crap Ryan Seacrest on the air. I absolutely refuse to watch anything with him in it. Thus I was subjected to some guy I had never heard of, Chris Harrison. He was okay, but he seemed like he was confused with his questions and comments at times. Back in the day, before it was so popular to turn old TV shows into movies, it was fairly common to have a popular movie turned into a weekly TV series.  This rarely worked, but there are some notable exceptions such as M*A*S*H and Alice.  But for every one of those there are dozens that littered the TV landscape.  The problem was that most of those cinematic features did not really translate well to a television audience.  No one was really interested in watching Animal House get watered down to a weekly series called Delta House.  Some shows took the film’s original premise, tweaked it a bit, ignored the film’s ending and started over.  Such was the case with the 1977 series Logan’s Run. An open letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences: What a mess.  It was a disaster of epic proportions.  I look forward to the Oscar telecast every year and then you give me this crap.  You people in charge really screwed up and you need some serious help to get this back on track.  Please allow me to name just a few of the things you did wrong and then let me tell you what to do to avoid a repeat of this disaster. I like Anne Hathaway.  I really do.  I find her incredibly attractive and sexy.  She is not however, very entertaining as a host for an awards show.  I like James Franco too, but I do find him substantially less sexy.  Putting these two together may have been someone’s idea of a joke that somebody somehow thought was a good choice.  You could not have been more wrong.  Their “witty banter” was horrid.  They had an incredible lack of chemistry together and how you could not see this is...
