Nikita

Image
Good day my friends, As many of you know I have always been fascinated by TV shows centered on a strong female character that can really kick butt.  My passion for Buffy the Vampire Slayer still endures as well as Dollhouse and I would certainly enjoy seeing Sydney Bristow kick butt once again.  However, when I saw last summer that there was another attempt at the Nikita story coming to the CW in the fall I was a bit skeptical.  After all, the Nikita story has been told a few times before with mixed results.  I never saw the original French film so I cannot comment on that.  I did enjoy Point of no Return, but was severely disappointed by La Femme Nikita.  That said, I am here to tell you that the new Nikita on the CW is a delight. I’ll give a little background for those uninitiated in the Nikita legend.  In the show, Nikita (played by the mega-hot Maggie Q) is a trained assassin and spy who has gone rogue and is trying to take down Div...

Fratelli Italian Restaurant

Image
Good day my friends, Last week I received a gift certificate to a restaurant in Oldsmar that I had never heard of before.  The name of the place was Fratelli and I figured it must be Italian.  I was correct.  What I did not realize until much later though, that Fratelli’s was a hidden gem. It is certainly nothing special to look at from the outside.  It really is the epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant.  We walked in and found it to be much bigger inside than we anticipated and also substantially un-crowded.   Plenty of sets available.  One of the girls at the bar said we could take a seat wherever we chose and we took a booth.  Almost immediately we were greeted by our server, Meaghan.  Meaghan asked if it was our first visit and we said yes and showed her the gift certificate.  She gave us some menus and took our drink order.  As we perused the menu I heard the voice of our little prince saying that he ...

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers

Image
Good day my friends, One of my favorite restaurant chains is Red Robin, but unfortunately I had only been able to dine at one when I traveled.  That is until now.  Not too far from me there is a brand new Red Robin right there in the Citrus Park Mall.  RR is known for their gourmet burgers, delectable chicken sandwiches, wraps and bottomless fries.  They also have incredible milkshakes. I finally had the opportunity the dine there this past weekend and I am here to tell you that it did not disappoint in the least.  We were welcomed at the door by a stunning brunette with gorgeous eyes.  The smell of burgers and fries permeated the entire place.  One thing I noticed right away is that this location was decorated in the same eclectic way as every other RR.  I was home at last.  I also noticed a plethora of employees.  It almost seemed like overkill at first, but as we dined it was certainly welcomed. Our server was Ben and I will hav...

Sir Griffin's 10 Best of 2010

Image
Good day my friends, 2010 was yet another great year in television.  We saw great shows, lousy shows and more reality shows than anyone ever wanted and yet, through it all we watched.  Sometimes Sir Griffin even watches crap, but I try to avoid too much negativity and don’t post much of that.  So today I am going to give you my Top 10 of 10.  Now you may find my list a bit unusual for the following reason: I will not be using any numbering system for my selections.  I will be placing the shows in alphabetical order as I don’t think ranking them is a good idea.  I enjoy all of these shows individually and to compare them to each other is not fair to me, you or the shows in general.  I like them all.  End of story.  So without further ado I present to you Sir Griffin’s 10 of 10. The Amazing Race (CBS) – Phil does a masterful job raising that eyebrow at every pit stop, but that’s not why this show is on my list.  It is one o...

Maxwell the Pig

Image
Good day my friends, Sir Griffin has never much cared for commercials, but when watching live sporting events they are difficult to avoid.  Over the years I have come to despise any all ads from Geico.  That is, until now. I never cared for the cavemen and I can't stand that stupid little lizard, but the first time I saw Maxwell the Pig I laughed hysterically.  Yes, your refined friend Sir Griffin is a fan of Maxwell the Pig.  I can no longer deny it. So I am writing an open letter to the folks at Geico.  Please get rid of the cavemen, the lizard and that stupid talking pile of money and focus all your efforts on Maxwell.  I love Maxwell! Seriously, a pig going wheeeeeeeeeee all the way home?  Brilliant! I must also apologize to all my loyal readers for my absence over the holidays.  I was out of town with Lady Gianna and spent some quality time dining and seeing movies during the dreaded holiday hiatus of many TV shows.  However, I...
