Survivor: Island of the Idols

Image
39 days, 20 players, 1 Survivor! Greetings and salutations true believers! For today we will briefly discuss the premiere of Survivor. Now before I go too far let me acknowledge something; I am a true, die-hard Survivor junkie. I have been watching since day one and I just cannot stop. We are into season 39 and it still intrigues me. Obviously there are some seasons I like more than others. I will say I did not like the Redemption Island twist last season. I still believe that once you are voted out you are finished. The sight of Jeff snuffing the torch should be your end on the show. Elizabeth Well this season that appears to be the case. The cast, at first glance, appears to be stellar. I have already chosen a few favorites and I have noticed that no one has come across, at least yet, as the clear villain. While I like the idea of a boot camp, I cannot and will not ever get over the two big ass statues of Boston Rob and Sandra at the Island of the Idols. They...

The Amazing Race: All-Stars

Image
Although it is one of the only two reality shows that I regularly watch and enjoy, I rarely write about The Amazing Race.  Today I will right that wrong, not with a recap per se, but rather my early impressions on this, the 24th installment of the popular series.  I have to say that when I first saw the lineup for this seasons all-stars I was a bit underwhelmed.  We had a couple of teams that were already running for the third time and frankly only one team of hot women.  When it comes to TAR, as it is know, you need at least two teams of beautiful women.  That should go without saying.  In addition to that oversight I saw that we would once again be stuck with one of the most annoying teams of all time, twin sisters Natalie & Nadiya.  Thankfully they were quickly eliminated by coming in dead last in episode one.  I could hear the cheers from around the world when it happened.  I was also thrilled that one of my favorite t...

BurgerFi - Winter Park

Image
On a recent trip to Orlando we discovered a delightful restaurant called BurgerFi . Located in Winter Park on the corner of Fairbanks and Park, BurgerFi may just be the ultimate burger place. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating and has a wide open feel to it. It’s a modern take of an old fashioned burger & shake place. Before I get too much further into our experience I will tell you that while parking in the street is at a premium, we were able to find a public lot that was virtually empty about a block away. Now it is only public parking after 5:00 PM so don’t say I didn’t warn you. It was a comfortable evening in Winter Park and as we strolled towards our destination we saw several other shops & restaurants along the same street. There was sushi, frozen yogurt and French cuisine to name a few. But, we were after the perfect burgers. As we walked through the wide open doors we were welcomed by a young and attractive girl behind the counter who we will ...

Vito's Pizza & Italian Tavern

Image
As I have mentioned previously, we always like to try a local place for pizza when we travel.  On our recent trip to Franklin we had several choices and after a little research we chose Vito’s Pizza and Italian Tavern .  It was an excellent choice. We had driven by Vito’s a couple of times during the week so we knew where it was, but we still used the GPS because it’s just fun.  Vito’s is located in a strip plaza and when we drove up I was a bit surprised that it was smaller than I thought.  However, they had a fat chef statue outside which is always a good sign.  An even better sign was when we stepped inside and saw a guy tossing pizza dough in the air.  We were quickly seated in the dining room and I think they had about six or eight tables.  It was a little tough to tell as there were these yentas having some sort of party so some of the tables were obviously pushed together.  Our server, Robin, told us they had a special tha...

Fat Buddies Ribs & BBQ

Image
If I were asked to use one word to describe Fat Buddies Ribs and BBQ I would have no idea which one to choose.  I could go with outstanding, excellent, amazing, delicious or incredible and each would be a perfect description.  Before I begin the inevitable drooling allow me to tell you a little about the place.  On a recent trip to Franklin, NC we were blessed with a gift of a $40.00 gift card to use at Fat Buddies.  I knew this would not be a wasted gift.  We went on a Tuesday evening for dinner and while I was told that it could get rather busy there at times, we were fortunate enough to go on a less frequented night.  We were greeted at the door by two things that I love…the aroma of BBQ and a hot girl.  I am getting a little ahead of myself here, but based on the lovely ladies that I saw working there I could easily see that Fat Buddy and I had similar taste in women.  As we were seated I perused the menu.  Prince Garri...

Sunset Restaurant

Image
On a recent visit to Franklin, NC we had the pleasure of dining at several wonderful restaurants.  On one particular overcast day the Little Prince was in the mood for some trout fishing, but before we went we knew that some nutrition was vital.  So we found what was a small mom & pop restaurant known for its southern cooking and pies called the Sunset Restaurant.  Sunset is a fairly small place and when we arrived we were afraid we’d have to wait as there were very few parking spaces available.  However, when we walked in we were seated immediately.  The first thing we noticed was the aromas that filled the dining room.  The kitchen could be seen from where we were seated and the delicious aromas were wafting right to our table.  The restaurant was decorated in a very quaint and southern style and had a very homey feel.  The menu was quite varied and had several favorites that you would expect from a place that served home c...

Survivor: One World

Image
Although I have chosen not to do the weekly Survivor recaps I am still watching and I am absolutely loving this season.  This entry will not be a recap, per se, but rather a complete appreciation for what is being offered to the viewing audience this season.  There are certain things that Survivor needs to be successful year after year and the producers have done a masterful job of getting these roles filled. • Stupid people • Hot girls • A villain • Two guys that refer to themselves as Tarzan (this is rare) • More stupid people The Beautiful Chelsea First of all we have the incredibly sexy and beautiful Chelsea Meissner from South Carolina.  I am not afraid to admit that I am completely infatuated with her.  Whenever she is on screen she is all I can see.  If there is a group shot on the screen that flashes by in a second I will rewind and pause so I can see her standing there.  Sad?  Maybe, but I don’t care.  Pathetic?...

Tin Lizzy's Cantina

Image
Tin Lizzy’s Cantina has three locations in the great city of Atlanta and we made a visit to the Buckhead location.  While it was not difficult to find it was a little tough to park.  We visited on a Wednesday evening and it was busy.  We pulled into their small lot and were immediately directed by a parking attendant to park far back on the right.  As I parked I could see several signs in the area, some of which advertised that it was okay to park there for Tin Lizzy’s and others saying don’t you dare park here for Tin Lizzy’s.  I found it amusing and went inside as my stomach was very angry with me. The Duo We were greeted by a big smile from the hostess who could only be described as “hot” and were quickly seated.  That is when our server, Sarah, came over to greet us.  Remember how I described the hostess?  Same goes for Sarah.  Being very unfamiliar with the menu, Sarah was able to make several suggestions. As with most...

Blacksmith's Bistro & Bar

Image
Nestled at the bottom of the Incline Railway in the St Elmo district of Chattanooga is Blacksmith’s Bistro and Bar, a charming and eclectic place for a good meal.  You will not be overwhelmed when you walk in the door, but rather pleased by the Southern hospitality and unique look of the place.  The menu itself was written on a big chalkboard and kudos must be given to whomever is given that task each day.  We had just taken a trip on the Incline Railway and desired lunch before heading on to Rock City and Ruby Falls.  Being from out of the area, Lady Gianna and I decided we needed something with a local flair.  Blacksmith’s was right across the street and easily fit the bill.  I have to say it does not look like much on the outside and the sight of a big chicken on their sign did not instill much confidence, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a friendly staff and took our seats right by the big board.  Lady Gianna ...
