TV and Burgers

Much like the CW, the Fox Network generally offers a heavy dose of crap each fall.  Now, that is not to say that everything they have is bad nor is it to say that they have shows I do not watch.  I love Raising Hope and I have been watching Bones since the beginning, however they also offer up garbage like The X Factor and its twin sister American Idol.  (I still don't know what the difference is between those shows)  And of course Fox has long been known as the home of The Simpsons, which I have still only seen once.  So when I saw the schedule I could easily see stuff that looked good to me and the aforementioned crap.  Let's take a look. I can honestly say that there are no shows currently running on the CW that I watch.  It is a pretty safe bet that nothing will change once the fall shows premiere.  I think I tried watching Arrow last fall and I just could not get into it and I have never been a fan of The Vampire Diaries despite the presence of the lovely Nina Dobrev.  The CW has only three show premiering this fall so this will not take long. Reign: A show about the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots.  Do I really have to write anything else? This sounds and looks so boring and so dull it makes me yearn for a remake of My Mother the Car just so I can say that there is something I actually want to watch less than this snoozefest.  I suppose we are lucky in that we will likely not have a prequel about James V or a sequel about James VI.  Chances of me watching? A while back I received two emails from some of my alleged fans saying they were tired of my Survivor recaps so I stopped.  Well, the outcry from my loyalist of fans has been immense and thus I am announcing a return to the weekly Survivor recaps that all but two of you have come to know and love.  And since I will be doing recaps I only thought it fair to give a season preview as well. Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs. Favorites was filmed from May 21st through June 28th 2012 and will premiere on CBS on February 13th.  It marks the second time that fans have had the opportunity to play against fan favorites.  I have to say that even though the previous FvF season was one of the all time best, I can't actually say I am thrilled to be seeing it again.  I like my new seasons of Survivor to be fresh.  I relish the opportunity to meet new castaways and see how they bond.  With a team of newbies playing a veteran team some of that pleasure if lost.  Ho...

It's that time of year again my friends.  The new shows will be arriving very soon and due to a vigorous summer schedule Sir Griffin is behind in his previews.  But fear not TV & Burger fans as it is finally time to begin.  We start with ABC. 666 Park Avenue - This is a show about a couple who move into a Manhattan building and learn that it just might be possessed by a demonic force .   The show  stars Terry O'Quinn from Lost and Vanessa Williams as the building's owner and his beautiful wife.  Also starring is Rachael Taylor and Dave Annable as the aforementioned young couple.  This show looks terrific.  Terry O'Quinn has long been one of my favorite actors and any show that has demonic forces will always pique my interest.  Chances of me watching: 100%. Recently I was invited to attend an advance screening of the premiere episode of Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23.  The show will make its debut in April on ABC and frankly I am not sure what they will ultimately call it.  The promos they are running now replace Bitch with B, but sometimes it is often referred to as just Apartment 23.  ABC already has the god awful Good Christian Bitches, which they just call GCB, so it is unlikely they will keep the “bitch” in the title.  While I will not reveal any spoilers of the premiere I would like to tell you a little about the show and my opinion.  After all, that’s why I was selected to see it in the first place.  The Bitch in question is played by Krysten Ritter .  She is a beautiful and talented actress and former model that you have probably seen before, but may not know her name.  Krysten may be best known for playing the sarcastic sidekick to the main protagonists in films such as ...

Yes my friends, Sir Griffin has returned.  After a lengthy holiday both home and abroad Sir Griffin is back to talk with you about his favorite things: TV & food.  Of course, I did see plenty of films this summer as well so do not hesitate to ask my opinion on any of the summer blockbusters.  But, we are here today because we are only a few weeks away from the fall TV season and my favorite show, Survivor.  I have been inundated with requests to continue my Survivor blog this season as opposed to one vote against it thus the majority wins and I will continue. Survivor South Pacific will be the 23rd season of this show and will premiere on September 14th.  For those of you with a curiosity streak I can tell you that it was filmed in Samoa from May 30th – July 7th of this year.  It is always amazing to me that the producers are able to keep the secrets of the show under wraps until the winner is revealed in December. I do not watch a lot of programs on NBC any more.  In fact I only watch Chuck.  That’s it!  What was once must see TV is now an entire network of must avoid TV.  So knowing that NBC does not really cater to my tastes I was not looking particularly forward to seeing their offerings for fall and beyond.  However, I went in with an open mind.  Let’s take a look: The Playboy Club The Playboy Club:   Here we go again.  Yet another show based on the successful Mad Men mold.  Another drama based in the 60’s?  We already have Pan Am over on ABC copying the concept and now we have this.  Since this is going to be on network TV it will be fairly tame which makes me wonder why such ignorant groups as Morality in Media are bitching about it.  Frankly a show like this belongs on cable with a lot of nudity, but we will not get that.  What we will get is the story of some hot women working at a Playboy Club in Chic...

So it's time to look at the shows that will be coming to us this fall and mid-season on the Fox broadcasting network.  When Fox started out that put out a lot of crap and I do mean a lot of crap.  Since then they have been just like any other network with their hits and misses.  Well, I can already tell you that there are some hits and misses coming up so let's stop chattering about it and take a look. Allen Gregory:   With the exception of Family Guy I have never been particularly impressed with the animated offerings from Fox.  I watched The Simpsons once and when I stopped vomiting I vowed never to watch it again.  With that in mind I was delighted by the trailer for Allen Gregory.  Allen is a seven year old child who is somewhat of a genius.  He has composed operas, written novels and is a fan of pinot grigio.  Allen lives with his father, Richard, and his life partner, Jeremy, whom Allen does not particularly care for.  Until now ...

As we continue our look at the fall schedule we come to The CW.  Now, I know some of you kids out there are clamoring for a story about dining out.  Don't worry, it will happen and it will be soon.  However, just as many have been clamoring for further looks at fall TV.  Sir Griffin is unable to please everyone at the same time, so I must make a decision and tonight's decision is TV.  So away we go... Hart of Dixie Hart of Dixie:   Rachel Bilson plays a New York City doctor that somehow ends up working at a small practice in Alabama.  Then she finds real southern people that talk funny!  How original!  I'll bet she feels really out of place and then finds love and somehow manages to fit in.  I liked it better when Michael J Fox did it in Doc Hollywood 20 years ago.  Look, Rachel Bilson is super cute but there is no way I could sit through this drivel.  Chances of me watching?  What did I just say?...

Okay, let's pick up with the shows that will be on in late fall/mid season, shall we? Apartment 23:  A quirky little comedy in which James Van Der Beek plays himself is interesting enough, but throw in the deliciously sexy Dreama Walker and the very attractive and talented Krysten Ritter and you have the makings of a good comedy.  Walker plays a barista named June looking for a place to live.  She ends up moving in with Chloe (Ritter) a con artist who rips off June as soon as she moves in.  As it turns out, June is adept at the con as well.  It's kind of like an Odd Couple remake, but with sexy women trying to outdo each other.  Chances of me watching?  Very good. Good day my friends, Traffic Light is a new show that premiered on Fox this past week following the ever hilarious Raising Hope.  Previously Hope was followed by a completely dreadful show called Running Wilde and now that has been replaced by the incredibly bland Traffic Light. Traffic Light is the story of three guys in their thirties who have been friends since their college days at the University of Illinois.  Apparently there was at one time a fourth friend who has died as they were dedicating a baseball field in his memory in the opening episode.  Lucky him.  Anyway, the three friends now all live in Chicago and are all at different stages of life.  Let me explain with the ever popular bullet points. Ethan - A single guy who also happens to be British.  He likes being single and seemingly dates a lot of women, but none of them for any length of time.  His British accent made him instantly more intriguing, but we need it to make him funnier....
