An Epic Debacle: The 83rd Annual Academy Awards

Image
An open letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences: What a mess.  It was a disaster of epic proportions.  I look forward to the Oscar telecast every year and then you give me this crap.  You people in charge really screwed up and you need some serious help to get this back on track.  Please allow me to name just a few of the things you did wrong and then let me tell you what to do to avoid a repeat of this disaster. I like Anne Hathaway.  I really do.  I find her incredibly attractive and sexy.  She is not however, very entertaining as a host for an awards show.  I like James Franco too, but I do find him substantially less sexy.  Putting these two together may have been someone’s idea of a joke that somebody somehow thought was a good choice.  You could not have been more wrong.  Their “witty banter” was horrid.  They had an incredible lack of chemistry together and how you could not see this is beyond my comprehension.  Did they have writers or were t

Survivor Redemption Island: The Gorilla & the Lion

Image
Andrea Good day my friends, If it was not clear to you in episode one, it most certainly has to be clear that Phillip is certifiably bonkers.  Boston Rob and Russell, the self proclaimed greatest Survivor player ever, have quickly been upstaged by a former special agent (?) in droopy, fuchsia underwear.  We even got Philip to explain his tattoos, but we’ll get to that in a bit. Our episode began with the Ometepe tribe returning from tribal council.  Phillip quickly took Rob aside and told him that Rob owns his vote until he is sent to Redemption Island.  Great idea Phillip.  Go ahead and give Rob even more power and stamp his ticket to the final three now.  Rob already has his little band of beauties (and that other guy) obeying his every command so go ahead and toss your hat in the ring as well Phillip.  Phillip seemed a little too excited to get to Redemption Island, but it seems that he wanted to go there for no other reason than to face his “nemesis” Francesca.

Hooters: John's Pass

Image
Good day my friends, As my readers and friends already know I consider Hooters to be the epitome of fine dining.  Wings, burgers, curly fries and beautiful women make up the components of the perfect dining experience.  That's why when I heard that Hooters had opened up a brand new restaurant at  John's Pass  on Madeira Beach I knew I just had to try it.  I must say it was another delightful experience at Hooters. Now most of you familiar with Hooters already know that the  Original Hooters  opened in Clearwater, FL in 1983.  It is at that location that I have done the vast majority of my Hooters dining.  Hooters was an originator and has spawned many imitators such as the  WingHouse  and  Tilted Kilt .  I have patronized both these establishments and have enjoyed them immensely, but to me Hooters is still and always will be the best.  (FYI: there is a place called  Twin Peaks  that I would just love to try sometime.) We arrived shortly after 1:00pm to take in a delicious

Survivor Redemption Island: Secret Agent Man

Image
Good day my friends, Survivor is back and I have a feeling after last night’s episode that we are in for a wild season.  But before I get too far into breaking down the premiere of Survivor: Redemption Island I need to first remind you that Phillip was once a federal agent because I am not too sure that he mentioned that often enough last night.  Please also keep in mind that this season was filmed last August & September after Nicaragua was filmed, but before it aired. The premiere began with Jeff looking cool in a helicopter.  I mention this only because Jeff has this aura around him that allows him to look cool under any circumstances.  The teams reached the beach and were immediately separated into our two tribes: Ometepe (orange buffs) and Zapatera (purple buffs).  That’s when Jeff brought out the two additional contestants and all of our new Survivors knew them immediately.  Boston Rob and Russell reached the beach to mixed emotions.  They each had to put thei

Traffic Light: Can we please get a few laughs?

Image
Good day my friends, Traffic Light is a new show that premiered on Fox this past week following the ever hilarious Raising Hope.  Previously Hope was followed by a completely dreadful show called Running Wilde and now that has been replaced by the incredibly bland Traffic Light. Traffic Light is the story of three guys in their thirties who have been friends since their college days at the University of Illinois.  Apparently there was at one time a fourth friend who has died as they were dedicating a baseball field in his memory in the opening episode.  Lucky him.  Anyway, the three friends now all live in Chicago and are all at different stages of life.  Let me explain with the ever popular bullet points. Ethan - A single guy who also happens to be British.  He likes being single and seemingly dates a lot of women, but none of them for any length of time.  His British accent made him instantly more intriguing, but we need it to make him funnier. Adam - He is single as well, but

WingHouse: Daily Lunch Specials

Image
Good day my friends, One thing I thoroughly enjoy is a reasonably priced lunch.  Ker's WingHouse not only offers lunch specials Monday through Friday for only $5.99, but they also offer up hot women to serve them to you.  For me that's a bargain I just cannot resist. Fiesta Burger The daily specials change every month and if you are so inclined you can click  here  and take a look.  Today I went and tried the Friday special:  The Fiesta Burger.  Now the Fiesta burger is pretty simple in theory, but ingenious in design.  They take a lineman sized juicy burger and season it to perfection.  Then they serve it open faced on a roll and top it with seasoned fries, queso sauce, onions, tomatoes and guacamole.  Now Sir Griffin is not a big fan of guacamole so he had them hold that.  The result is a delicious blend of flavors all circling your mouth at once.  It's also beautiful to look at as far as I am concerned, but I have to tell you that I did not waste a lot of time sta
